Since last summer, Joseph and Ethel Kolenz have been urging me to walk the trail bridge. "I'll get around to it during the winter," I jokingly said. Well, that's exactly what happened. I got around to it on Jan. 5. And what a pleasurable experience it was. Although my photos indicate no one was on the 13-story, half-mile bridge that overlooks the Des Moines River valley, there actually were plenty of walkers and bicyclists throughout the afternoon. My advice to you: Enjoy the trail, too, before or after it snows.
